8th March – Auckland
We arrived to a beautiful day in Aukland ,
and berthed right in centre of town similar to Sydney.
Our tour today was first to a gannet
colony, then another visit to a farm. We arrived at a bay where there were
surfers (apparently a surfer had been killed the week before by a great white
shark !!!) we walked around the cliff top then smelt the gannets before we saw
them in their thousands.
After a 45 min stop we drove north through
the countryside to an isolated farm with magnificent views, where we were served
a BBQ lunch plus wine etc. very nice. Doreen enjoyed walking around the garden
before we watched a sheep dog rounding up the sheep for a hair-cut.
On our return to ship we went into town for
some more retail therapy as the ship was not setting sail until 7.30 pm.
We returned at 7.00pm and booked the ocean
grill for a slap up meal after a great day at Aukland.
