Singapore (Afternoon)
18th March 2014
At Mid-day Valetia arrived from work and
after a lot of hugging and greetings Geoffrey, Doreen Valetia and Cheng Yee
jumped in a cab for the short journey to the Marine Bay Hotel. Geoffrey
was absolutely amazed at the sheer size and grandeur of the
building. We found the lifts and
pressed the button for the 57th Floor and Doreen held her breath for
the thirty second journey.
Valetia had booked a table at Sky on
57 (which is Justin Quek restaurant, who does a gourmet twist on local food,
with amazing views over Singapore). Here
we had a local meal, which included a starter of Squid, Dumplings, and Prawns,
with the main course a fish curry for Doreen and Geoffrey had Prawns and
Scallops and vegetables on a bed of Chinese noodles, which he managed to eat
using traditional chopsticks, whilst Doreen resorted to a knife and fork, which
was followed by a delicious dessert.
After lunch we went out of the restaurant and into the garden area
where we saw people swimming in the infinity swimming pool, and we admired the
magnificent views over Singapore.
We got the lift back down to the ground floor and walked through the
up market Shopping Mall, which had Yves St. Laurent, Guicci, Burberry, Versace
and many other very exclusive shops. All
too soon we had to say goodbye to Valetia as she had to return to work, but
Cheng Yee took us back to the Gardens by the Bay, where she left us. Geoffrey then took a few more photographs and
Doreen quickly checked out the gift shops.
We must thank Valetia and Cheng Yee for making
this a really enjoyable and memorable day.
