Cruising the Pacific

5th – 11th February
Cruising in the Pacific

We are in the middle of nine days at sea so we have been catching up on our art classes as you can see below.  Try and guess who painted which pictures.

Our itinerary included a cruise by Easter Island.  We had hoped to be close enough to see many of the stone statues which Easter Island is famous for.  However, we only managed to spot one group of fifteen statues, which co-incidentally were the same fifteen statues that Doreen is planning to paint in the art class.  You will note that all the statues look to the centre of the island, with their backs to the sea.  Slightly disappointed that the cruise did not include a stop at Easter Island so that we could see the statues close up.

We are continuing our two mile walk around the deck every day and sit at the stern of the ship to recover afterwards.

After leaving Easter Island, the Captain advised that she was diverting the ship north to avoid some bad weather that was coming our way.  However during the night and early morning there were gale force winds (Force 9) and heavy seas that were tossing the ship around, so that morning Doreen only managed the one mile walk around the Promenade Deck.
